History

Xavier Electronics, Inc.(XEI) was incorporated May, 1978. Initially it purchased and operated communications service companies. County Communications, PRF Communications, and Baker Communications were some of the companies operated.  From 1978 to 1983, XEI maintained all 2 Way communications equipment for the Philadelphia Electric Company. (PECO) and many other customers. Approximately 5000 Mobiles and 250 Base Stations were under maintenance contract. These included customers such as Nuclear Plants, The City of Philadelphia, Delaware River Port Authority, and the University of Pennsylvania. XEI wired the Penn campus, and buildings for the University TV Studio and Computer Networks.

Engineering

Xavier has an Engineering and software Design department. XEI writes software in MS-DOS, Visual C++, C, C++, Visual Basic languages. We use UNIX, LINUX, Windows (all) operating system. XEI is capable of designing hardware and software  products using RF, Analog, Digital, Video, Fiber optics, Audio, etc.  In 1990 XEI began working with SEPTA engineers to develop a SCADA type system that could be used anywhere in the SEPTA system for almost any purpose. This system  (ITM-1000) would handle voltages, currents, inputs, outputs, Audio from mike level to PA level, Provide analysis of data as well as reporting, etc. The system was designed to handle various external interfaces including Radios, Phones, Faxes, Modems, and Networks. The software and hardware is designed to operate in a manner that makes modifications to operations easy and distribute the functions so that system latency is at a minimum.  The resulting system is extremely capable, flexible and user friendly. It soon became our “CAN-DO BOX.”

Facilities

XEI has its offices in the Zober Development Industries complex. (ZDI). This complex includes 50,000 sq. ft. of Sheet Metal Fabrication, 50,000 sq. ft. of electronic assembly, including a complete surface mount line, and 63,000 sq. ft. of System Assembly. ZDI is the manufacturing arm of Xavier Electronics, Inc. XEI is the engineering arm of ZDI. This symbiotic relationship keeps our cost down and allows each company to concentrate on what it does best. There are no financial ties between XEI and ZDI.

XEI has custom designed many products for numerous customers. These include Amtrak, GE., Adtranz, Bombardier,.Peco., Univ. of Pa., Cartrol, Tandy, Wavetek, Septa, Conrail, AMTRAK, Metro Transportation, Inc., ALSTOM Transportation, ZDI,  PP&L, NYCTA, LIRR, FBI, and the US Post Office.
